Clips From Series Premiere of NBC's 'Southland'

“Southland”, a new cop drama will soon invade NBC’s Thursdays schedule and a preview of what the series deals with is available. A bunch of clips shows how raw and authentic the series is made, and they should be ample to display another work of Emmy Award winning writer John Wells.

The drama follows a rookie cop Ben Sherman who joins the unit in Los Angeles and adapts to the situation. John Cooper is assigned to train Ben and his no-nonsense approach nature has Ben asking himself whether he has what it takes to be a police officer. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, “Southland” is a fast-moving

drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Other characters in the series are Detective Lydia Adams who doubles her life taking care of her mother, Detective Russell Clarke who is unhappy in his marriage and Detective Daniel “Sal” Salinger who oversees fellow gang detectives. There is also patrol officer Chickie Brown, a single mom who dreams of being the first woman accepted into SWAT.

The clips give among others, the first meeting between Ben and John, Sammy in an emotional phone conversation with his wife, and John finding a dead body before throwing up.
